The Civic Innovation & Technology for Development Summit CiTechSummit2025 marked a major milestone in Africa’s civic-tech landscape. Designed as a gathering of innovators, policymakers, youth leaders, development partners, and digital reformers, the summit created an inspiring space to reimagine governance and strengthen democracy through technology.

Held in Abuja, the two-day summit brought together over 500 participants, including 100+ women, 50+ persons with disabilities, and 30 leading speakers and facilitators from across sectors. From insightful keynotes to high-level panel discussions, hands-on showcases, and practical learning sessions, CiTechSummit2025 delivered a powerful blend of ideas, innovation, and action.

Why CiTech Summit Matters

Africa is witnessing a growing demand for transparency, inclusion, and accountable leadership. Digital technology especially AI is shaping how citizens engage, access information, and demand good governance. CiTechSummit2025 responded to this moment with a bold theme:

“AI for Democracy: Innovating Participation, Policy & Public Trust.”

Throughout the summit, speakers explored vital questions:

  • How can technology strengthen youth participation ahead of the 2027 elections?
  • What role does AI play in fostering trust between citizens and government?
  • How can digital tools break barriers of exclusion for women, PWDs, and marginalized communities?

These conversations served as a roadmap for building democratic systems that are modern, inclusive, and driven by evidence.
